Astrid Lindgren-Humanity has lost its mind co Farbfilm Verleih

This film documentary delves into the world of the war diaries that Astrid Lindgren kept between 1939 and 1945, which lay undiscovered in her bedroom until 2015. These diaries provide a powerful insight into the horrors of the Second World War from the perspective of a mother and early feminist who campaigned for peace, humanity and equality.

»These were unusual times« the film begins with the voice of Astrid Lindgren's daughter. She, her daughter and grandson rummage through their ancestor's diaries together. They read between the lines and embark together on an emotional journey into the beautiful and painful memories. In each of her entries, Astrid's gentleness, her love of humanity and her unconditional will to make the world a little better shine through.

However, Astrid Lindgren herself tells most of the story through the actress Sofia Pekkari, who slips into her role. From the first day of the war in 1939 to the end and a few months afterwards, we follow her as she worries about the people in this war, about humanity in general, as she fears the Russians even more than the Germans at some point, as she is plagued by a guilty conscience because she and her family are doing so well thanks to her husband Sture's good salary. She reflects on her life and world events, always demonstrating foresight.

The film lasts 102 minutes. The film was directed by Wilfried Hauke.
