Frankenstein
Theatre in the evening
Play based on the novel by Mary Shelley, performed by the Landestheater Detmold.
Man or monster? In Mary Shelley's novel, published in 1818, the young scientist Victor Frankenstein pursues a lofty goal: he assembles a human being from various body parts and attempts to animate it. When he finally comes face to face with his "work", he is gripped by horror and flees from his own creation.
From the Prometheus myth of antiquity to the alchemical experiments of the Middle Ages to the promising possibilities of the present day, in which genetic engineering and artificial intelligence are making rapid progress - the desire to create an artificial human runs through history and is probably more explosive today than ever before.
