Cross-border exhibition "Significance of queer personalities in cultural history"

18 August // 5 pm // Exhibition opening // LernWerk Bocholt // for the 1st Bocholt CSD

Josephine Baker - dancer and actress

The exhibition "WE ARE PART OF CULTURE" visualises the often overlooked contributions of queer people to art, science and society. Over 40 portraits - including Hans Christian Andersen, Alan Turing, Virginia Woolf, Leonardo da Vinci and Oscar Wilde - show how queer personalities have triggered cultural change and continue to inspire today.

Initiated by the 100% Human project, the exhibition is touring nationally and internationally to honour the historical significance of queer people and celebrate diversity as an enriching part of our society.

The exhibition is also making a stop in Bocholt. We are delighted to be able to present this remarkable exhibition in our region.
Thanks to the initiative of Bocholt Pride e.V., it is possible to experience this exhibition in Bocholt, which offers a deep insight into the stories of queer personalities who have significantly shaped European culture through their art, their commitment and their courage. Thanks to the support of Achterhoek Pride and Borken bleibt bunt, the exhibition can be shown not only in Bocholt, but also in several other cities in the region in Germany and the Netherlands.

Organised by Bocholt Pride e.V.
Bocholt Pride e.V. has taken the initiative to bring the exhibition to Bocholt and thus take a further step towards greater visibility and recognition of the queer community in the region.
As an organisation, we are committed to promoting the visibility of the queer community and raising public awareness of the cultural achievements of queer people. This exhibition is an important step in celebrating the cultural and social contributions of queer individuals and putting their stories centre stage.
Thanks to the collaboration with Achterhoek Pride and Borken bleibt bunt, the exhibition can be disseminated and realised as a travelling exhibition so that its important message can have an impact far beyond the city limits and internationally.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge from 18 to 24 August during the opening hours of LernWerk Bocholt.
