FW Bocholt: Water-related incident at Mosse Community Park
Bocholt (ots) -
The Bocholt Fire Brigade was called out at 18:40 today to Bürgerpark Mosse on Zeisigweg with the incident code "Water accident".
Witnesses had seen a person in the water who was no longer visible shortly afterwards. Following this report, an extensive search operation was launched immediately.
The Bocholt Fire Brigade and the city's ambulance service deployed a total of 20 personnel. Initially, the shoreline area was searched thoroughly. In addition, emergency services used a rubber dinghy to comb the suspected area of the lake. The fire brigade's drone was also deployed to assist with the search.
The DLRG, who had also been alerted immediately, carried out a comprehensive search of the lake using divers, current rescuers, search dogs and a sonar device. In addition, a police helicopter provided aerial support for the operation. The lake and its shoreline were scanned using a thermal imaging camera.
However, the extensive search operations yielded no results. The operation was called off at around 8.20 pm.
Whilst the operation was underway at the Mosse, basic fire cover for the town was ensured by additional crews from the volunteer fire brigade who were called out later.
A total of 20 personnel from the fire service and the emergency medical services of the city of Bocholt, 32 personnel from the local branches of the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) in Bocholt, Borken, Ahaus and Stadtlohn, as well as officers from the Bocholt police force, were involved in the operation.
