53,735.99 euros for "Fit for Europe: Sport, Health and Cooking in Bocholt, the City of Europe"
The town of Bocholt is to receive a grant of 53,735.99 euros from the Erasmus+ Youth programme for its 2026 European Youth Camp. From 19 to 26 July 2026, more than 50 young people from five twin towns and partner cities, as well as from Bocholt itself, will gather at the Europa-Haus in Bocholt.
Under the motto "Fit for Europe: Sport, Health and Cooking in the European City of Bocholt", the focus is on international exchange for a whole week. Young people from the Netherlands, France, Lithuania, Spain, Germany and the UK will experience first-hand how European cooperation, team spirit and mutual understanding can be put into practice in everyday life.
Drawing on recent major sporting events, the programme highlights the unifying power of sport. The organising team has put together a varied programme for this purpose. The young people can look forward to sporting challenges, workshops on health and fair play, reflection evenings and digital presentations. There is also a particular focus on intercultural cookery workshops, where the youth groups bring recipes from their home countries and prepare them together in mixed teams.
""I am delighted with this substantial financial support. Without funding from Erasmus+ Youth, it would not be possible to bring together more than fifty young Europeans in Bocholt for a whole week and enable them to take part in such an international exchange,"" says Mayor Christian Mangen. "The youth camp demonstrates how important personal encounters are for mutual understanding, peace and European cohesion."
The project is co-funded by the European Union.
