BattleBots competition at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences BocholtCross-border BattleBots competition
Cooperation between Westfälische Hochschule Bocholt and Dutch partners // Interreg-funded project
On 2 July 2025, a cross-border competition of BattleBots took place at the Westfälische Hochschule Bocholt. These were developed by the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences together with the AT Techniekopleidingen Terborg vocational school in cooperation with other stakeholders.
Westfälische Hochschule Bocholt has already successfully completed various cross-border projects, many of which were funded by Interreg. This includes the project "BattleBots - cross-border training concepts", the first result of which was the interlinking of two courses at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences and the AT Techniekopleidingen vocational school. This cooperation culminated in an exciting BattleBot competition at the university on 2 July 2025.
In this project, the team led by Prof Dr Tobias Seidl and Prof Dr Michael Wendland from the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences worked together with the vocational school from Terborg. They were supported by various companies. The vocational school AT Techniekopleidingen contributed a part manufactured using metal 3D printing, which was installed in the BattleBots.
According to the initiators, the aim of the project is to find new ways of cross-border cooperation in the field of training in new technologies in the manufacturing industry. The aim is to promote the cross-border labour market.
Competition between the BattleBots
The Westphalian University of Applied Sciences invited all those involved in the project and other guests to view the initial results of the collaboration. After a brief presentation of the project, the BattleBots competed against each other. Afterwards, the project participants celebrated their success at a barbecue event.
