On Sunday, 8 November 2026, Bocholt town centre will become a meeting place for anyone who enjoys a stroll, wants to experience special moments of light and get into the spirit of the run-up to Christmas.
From 1 pm to 6 pm, the shops will be open for a Sunday shopping event. You can look forward to illuminated figures, fascinating shows and a town centre that glows in a very special light as dusk falls.
Here's what you can expect
Illuminated figures in the city centre
As the early twilight hours set in, a special spectacle begins: numerous illuminated figures in the city centre add a touch of magic and create an atmospheric ambience. The combination of light art, shows and shopping makes the day an unforgettable experience.
20 illuminated 3D figures transform the city centre into a luminous world of wonder. Keep your eyes peeled, spot your favourite figures and enjoy the special atmosphere.
Light beings on stilts
As darkness gradually falls, two light beings on stilts create magical moments in the city centre.

The highlights of the day include a top-class fire art performance at 4 pm and an impressive light show at 5.30 pm. Let yourself be enchanted by fantastic flames, sparks, lights and pyrotechnic effects against the backdrop of the illuminated historic town hall.
Easy Night Rider

As dusk falls, the Easy Night Riders light up the cycling town of Bocholt! With their brightly coloured, glowing bikes, they ride through the town centre, popping up here and there and surprising visitors with twinkling lights and fitting music.
Shops open & free parking
From 1 pm to 6 pm, the shops invite you to come and have a browse. You can discover some new favourites and perhaps even find your first Christmas presents.
A relaxed trip into the town centre
Parking in the town centre is free on this day. The Bocholt city bus can also be used free of charge on this day.

Light Sunday is organised by Stadtmarketing Bocholt on behalf of the Immobilien- und Standortgemeinschaft (ISG) Altstadt Bocholt and the advertising associations of Neutorplatz and the Shopping Arkaden, with the kind support of stadtwerker GmbH.
