The trio of jazz guitarist Christian Hassenstein plays every two months in the Appendix, the extension of the LernWerk, at Herdingstr. 5 in 46395 Bocholt. The guest soloist at this concert is Anne Hartkamp (vocals). The concert starts at 8.00 pm and admission is free. As usual, visitors can look forward to the unique sounds of this fascinating combination. The guest will be joined by Christian Hassenstein on guitar, René Marx on drums and Volker Heinze on double bass.

The soloist:

Hartkamp, who grew up between Essen and Düsseldorf, initially studied classical singing in Vienna before switching to a degree in German and musicology at the University of Bonn. There she became self-taught in jazz and then studied jazz singing at the Amsterdam Hogeschool voor de kunsten with Deborah Brown, Humphrey Campbell and Erik van Lier. After graduating, she moved to Cologne. In the early 1990s, she co-founded the a cappella quartet Harem 4, with whom she gave numerous concerts in Germany and abroad. She also gave solo concerts under the pseudonym Magnolia and worked with Gunter Hampel between 1997 and 2003, as well as occasionally with Marion Brown and Perry Robinson. After the dissolution of Harem 4 in 2001, she focussed on German-language songs (with her own lyrics) and founded the band hartkamp, with whom she released two albums. In 2007, the NRW State Music Council included her in its programme to promote female composers. With her quintet, she also worked on jazz standards. Since 2005, Hartkamp has played in the duo Magnolia with guitarist Philipp van Endert, with whom she released the album "Embrace" in 2025 after the albums "Humpty's Amazing Boogie Pencil" (2006) and "Wait a Second" (2012). In a duo with Thomas Rückert, she explored the work of pianist Bill Evans. She has also worked with the WDR Big Band Cologne, Thomas Heberer, Lajos Dudas, Axel Dörner, Michael Wollny, Nils Wogram and Bernd Kaftan. Hartkamp teaches jazz singing at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.

The event is supported by Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.
