Park your bike safely and for free at the funfair
Free short-term parking for up to 24 hours // 16-21 October // Railway station, Bustreff, Liebfrauenplatz and Arkaden // Registration via radbox.nrw required
Anyone coming to the Bocholt fair by bike can park their bike free of charge in the town's secure cycle parking facilities. From Friday 16 October to Wednesday 21 October, there will be no charge for short-term parking of up to 24 hours. You must be registered with radbox.nrw to use this service.
The town of Bocholt invites visitors to the funfair to cycle into the town centre. Lockable cycle racks are available at the railway station, the Bustreff and Liebfrauenplatz, as well as cycle lockers at the arcades on Berliner Platz. This offer is valid from Friday 16 October up to and including Wednesday 21 October, and thus extends beyond the four days of the fair. Short-term parking for up to 24 hours is free of charge during this period.
"The facilities are fenced off or designed as enclosed boxes, thus offering good protection against theft and the weather", explains Holger Frieling from the Mobility Department at Bocholt City Council, "This is a particular advantage for e-bikes and high-value bicycles when they are left in the city centre for several hours. In the lockers at the Arkaden, the battery of an e-bike can also be charged whilst parked."
Parking spaces are booked via the state-wide radbox.nrw system, either on the website www.radbox.nrw or via the accompanying app for iOS and Android. Anyone not yet using the system must register once. Even though parking is free during the promotional period, a valid payment method must be linked to your profile. Anyone who completes registration before the fair weekend can book on the day of the fair without having to wait.
Once booked, access to the facility is via your smartphone; no key is required. The Bocholt cycle parking facilities are operated and maintained by Büngern-Technik, a recognised workshop for people with disabilities run by the Caritasverband Bocholt e.V.
