Complete closure at the Hemdener Weg roundabout during the autumn half-term holidays

Municipal utilities are laying a 110 kV power line on Hemdener Weg

From Monday 19 October, the Hemdener Weg / Auf der Recke roundabout will be completely closed to motor vehicle traffic for the duration of the autumn half-term holidays. This is due to utility works being carried out by the city's public utility company as part of the new 110 kV power line. A local diversion is signposted, whilst pedestrians will still be able to pass through the area.

As part of the expansion of the electricity grid, the municipal utilities are carrying out extensive laying work at the junction of Hemdener Weg and Auf der Recke. The so-called jetting method is being used to lay the cables underground. To carry out this work, the entire roundabout area must be closed to motorised traffic. Direct access from Adenauerallee to Hemdener Weg will also not be possible during this period. A diversion will be signposted.

The City of Bocholt and Stadtwerker have deliberately scheduled the construction work for the autumn half-term holidays, when traffic is lighter. There are four secondary schools in the immediate vicinity of the construction site, attended by just under 4,000 pupils every day. By scheduling the works during the holidays, the impact on the sensitive school and commuter traffic will be kept to a minimum.
