More oxygen for the Aasee in Bocholt

For several weeks, it has been extremely dry in the region as well. This also affects the water quality of the Bocholt Aasee. Due to the blue-green algae infestation, bathing in the lake is currently prohibited. The waste disposal and service company of the city of Bocholt has now set up large sprinkler systems to increase the oxygen content in the particularly badly affected areas.

In addition, surface aerators were installed at three locations. "We hope that we can help the Aasee a little," says ESB operations manager Heinz Welberg. The entire body of water cannot be supplied in this way, but the hope is nevertheless to be able to create more oxygen-rich areas through aeration.

The city of Bocholt continues to monitor the water condition of the Bocholter Aasee. According to the German Weather Service, an easing of the extreme drought is not in sight for the next few days.
