Traffic arrangements and market relocation for the Bocholt fair

Bocholt. Due to the Bocholt fair, traffic disruption and congestion may occur from Tuesday 13 October at around 8.00 pm. Traffic routing and traffic light timings will be altered in the area of the junction of Meckenemstraße, Westend and Dinxperloer Straße, as well as at the junctions along Meckenemstraße. Meckenemstraße will be completely closed between Hohenzollernstraße and the Westend junction.

Passes for residents | Diversions around Meckenemstraße

Residents of Meckenemstraße and visitors to the doctors' surgeries may only access the Meckenemstraße area by car with a pass, provided they are approaching exclusively from the direction of the Shopping Arkaden. Resident parking permits have already been distributed. The section of Meckenemstraße from Bärendorfstraße to Westend may only be used by emergency services, the police and the fire brigade. Drivers familiar with the area are asked to give the city centre a wide berth and use the bypass roads. The closure of Meckenemstraße will be lifted on Tuesday, 20 October, towards the evening.

Traffic disruptions | Parking

In the past, there have been repeated instances of traffic disruption in the side streets caused by illegally parked vehicles. This has made bus services considerably more difficult. In some cases, it was impossible for fire service emergency vehicles to get through. You are therefore asked to park only in designated parking areas. To avoid problems with the police or the towing service, visitors arriving by car are asked to use the centrally located "Am Nähkasten", the Shopping Arkaden car park, the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt underground car park, the underground car park at Europaplatz and the car park at Liebfrauenplatz.

Weekly Market Relocation

The weekly market will take place from Thursday 15th to Tuesday 20th October inclusive at Liebfrauenplatz, as the market and Gasthausplatz are also being used as fairground sites.

Bocholt City Buses | Special timetable

The StadtBusse will operate special services during the fair between 16 and 19 October 2026. All routes will run at the usual 30-minute intervals (route C13 at 20/40-minute intervals | routes C7, C8 and C11 at 60-minute intervals) until late at night, travelling to and from the Bustreff. QR codes at every stop on the route into the city indicate additional services. These can also be found at http://www.stadtbusbocholt.de. The standard fare structure applies to journeys to the funfair.

Secure cycle parking | Small fee

Visitors travelling to the fair by bicycle can park their bikes securely at the following bicycle parking facilities for a small fee: in the car park of St Josef's Church, at the Liebfrauen rectory (Langenbergstraße) and at the Maria Montessori School (formerly Diepenbrock School on Europaplatz). At these locations, the bicycles will be supervised by the sixth-form students of Kapu Grammar School, the Liebfrauen Altar Servers' Association and the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts of the Association of Christian Girl Guides and Boy Scouts - a service that has been carried out excellently in previous years.

Kinodrom diversion | Signposting

During the fair, the Kinodrom can only be reached via a diversion. The cinema diversion will be set up over a wide area and clearly signposted! The Kinodrom car park will not be available. Instead, a number of parking spaces will be reserved behind the neighbouring Volksbank Bocholt main branch.
