Primary school classes distribute "thank-you notes" to car drivers // Four Bocholt primary schools involved
This year, primary school pupils once again drew attention to road safety as part of the stop campaign. A total of four Bocholt primary schools with 18 participating classes took part in the campaign. They were supported by the Borken district police and Ludger Thesing, head of the traffic monitoring division at the city of Bocholt.
From 30 June to 4 July 2025, the Liebfrauen primary school group, the Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff school, the Clemens August school and the Ludgerus primary school group campaigned for speed limits to be observed.
"Thank you and thank you notes" are distributed
"We are taking part in the stop campaign and wanted to tell you that you were unfortunately travelling too fast. That's why we're giving you a reminder", warned the fourth-graders at Clemens August School on 2 July as soon as drivers drove faster than the speed limit in the 30 km/h zone. The speed was previously measured on Heutingsweg near the primary school and the Borken district police stopped passing vehicles.
Depending on whether the road users behaved in an exemplary manner or not, the primary school pupils handed out self-painted "thought or thank-you notes". The campaign proved effective: the drivers reacted sensitively and understandingly to the warnings and were delighted to receive a thank-you note.
