Actors and actresses wanted for EU media campaign

Explaining European topics in "Bocholter Platt" // Register now

The European Commission is now looking for local actors and actresses to explain European issues in the Bocholt dialect for a media campaign. Interested parties can contact the EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt.

Background

For the campaign planned by the German Representation of the European Commission in the context of the 2024 European elections, citizens are being sought who speak in their native dialect. The videos will be filmed in Berlin, Munich or Bonn in autumn/winter 2023. To ensure that everyone understands the videos, they will be subtitled in High German. The participants will be provided with the texts.

What are the topics?

The topics of the six videos, which are about explaining European election and EU issues as well as the election appeal, are:

  • Introduction to the campaign (and election call).
  • What is and what does the European Parliament do? What is the European election and what do you do there? Who can I vote for there and how?
  • Current important issues for the EU: Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and global implications (poverty, security, food, disinformation etc.), migration, climate change/green and digital transformation etc.
  • Why is the election important for me? Why does it affect me? What does democracy mean anyway?
  • Values of the EU
  • Advantages of the EU? What does the EU do for me?
  • Examples from the region that are financed with EU funds

Requirements for actors and actresses

People should speak local Low German ("Bokeltse Platt") and be between 18 and 99 years old. Preferably, applicants have already dealt with EU-related topics or EU-funded projects.

How can I take part?
