Mowing boat on the Bocholt Aasee underway

This week the bottom of the Bocholt Aasee is being mown again. As last year, a mowing boat is on its way on behalf of the city of Bocholt to cut back underwater plants in the water.

The removal removes nutrients from the water body. This should help to improve the water quality even in the dry summer months. In addition, the Aasee is enhanced for swimmers in this way. This is to prevent swimmers from getting tangled in the plants and panicking while swimming. Therefore, mainly the area of the bathing bay is mown.

Last year, the mowing boat spent four days on the Aasee and removed almost 12 tonnes of mown material, according to the City of Bocholt. The work is carried out by the company Landschaftsbau Schapdick on behalf of the city.
