On the weekend of 15 and 16 November, the city of Bocholt and the German War Graves Commission will be celebrating Remembrance Day. In addition to the memorial service at the cemetery on Blücherstraße, the city invites people to a charity concert in St Norbert's Church on the evening before.
On Saturday, 15 November 2025, the concert "An Evening for Peace" will take place at 7:30 pm in St. Norbert's Church. The ICL wind orchestra under the direction of Constantin Hesselmann will be organising the evening. Admission is free; the Volksbund asks for donations afterwards in favour of its work.
On Sunday, 16 November 2025, the commemoration of Remembrance Day will begin at 11 a.m. at the 1939/45 memorial site of the municipal cemetery on Blücherstraße. Representatives of Bocholt's associations and clubs will meet in front of the cemetery hall at 10.50 am. The address will be given by Pastor Josephine Schmidt. A group of pupils from the Euregio-Gymnasium will present their thoughts on Remembrance Day. The Bocholt-Isselburg music school will provide the musical accompaniment to the ceremony.
"The Volkstrauertag is a day of reflection and responsibility", explains Mayor Christian Mangen, "we not only remember the victims of war and violence, but also commit ourselves to peace, democracy and humanity - here in Bocholt and all over the world."
The event is organised by the Bocholt District Association of the German War Graves Commission in conjunction with the city of Bocholt.
