Sunday, 11 October: Two performances at the LernWerk // Part of the supporting programme for the special exhibition "Schwere Schritte" // Can be combined with guided tours of the exhibition
On Sunday 11 October, Karyna and Dmytro Borodii will use dance to tell the story of their lives before the war, their escape and their new beginning at the LernWerk. Their dance theatre piece "Our Journey" forms part of the supporting programme for the special exhibition "Heavy Steps: Bocholt Stories of Flight and New Beginnings". Both performances can be combined with a guided tour of the exhibition.
What does it mean to have to leave one's homeland and start afresh in a foreign country? These experiences are at the heart of "Unser Weg%$. Karyna and Dmytro Borodii bring their personal story to the stage. Through dance and movement, they convey the experiences and emotions associated with leaving one's homeland and arriving in a new place.
The two 15-minute performances will take place from 11.15 am to 11.30 am and from 5.15 pm to 5.30 pm in the LernWerk's event hall. Before each performance, there will be an opportunity to explore the special exhibition on a guided tour. The guided tours start at 10.00 am and 4.00 pm.
The dance theatre performance complements the varied October programme accompanying the special exhibition. Talks, readings, creative workshops and numerous guided tours offer further insights into the themes of flight, migration, arrival and new beginnings.
