Focus on cycling-friendliness: the city of Bocholt calls for participation in the Cycling Climate Survey

Bocholt. The Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) has launched its nationwide 'Bicycle Climate Test'. The town of Bocholt is also calling on all cycling enthusiasts to take part in the online survey and assess the local cycling conditions. The results of the survey can provide the local authority with important insights for the further development and maintenance of the cycle path network.

The town of Bocholt has a long tradition as one of Germany's most cycle-friendly towns. In previous rounds of the ADFC Cycle Climate Test, Bocholt has repeatedly achieved top rankings at national level in the medium-sized towns category. "The bicycle is the dominant mode of transport in the everyday lives of Bocholt's residents and makes a significant contribution to quality of life, easing pressure on the road network and combating climate change", explains City Planning Officer Dave Welling, ""To not only maintain this high standard but also to continuously improve the facilities on offer, we rely on the specific experiences of cyclists.""

The survey examines various aspects of cycling infrastructure and everyday cycling. These include, amongst other things, the condition and width of cycle paths, the sense of safety at junctions, the accessibility of destinations throughout the city, and the availability of modern parking facilities.

The results can assist the city administration in developing and deciding on transport planning measures. The administration therefore welcomes active participation from all age groups. The survey is open online at fkt.adfc.de until 30 November 2026 and takes just a few minutes to complete.
