Roadside campaign: Primary school classes hand out "'Think and Thank' notes" to motorists

Campaign for greater road safety // Three primary schools in Bocholt taking part

Over five days, from 10 to 16 June 2026, three primary schools in Bocholt took part in this year's road safety campaign. Pupils in Years 3 and 4 handed out "'Think and Thank' notes" to motorists. They were supported in this by the Borken District Police and Ludger Thesing, Head of Traffic Monitoring for the City of Bocholt.

To raise awareness of road safety, speed checks were carried out in 30er-Zonen. Drivers were then given either a thank-you note in recognition of their law-abiding driving, or a warning note highlighting any misconduct.

""Thank you for driving carefully and considerately"%$, reads the thank-you notes designed by the pupils themselves. The motorists involved were delighted to receive the thank-you notes and reacted with understanding and good grace even when given a warning note.

This year, St. Bernhard Primary School, Biemenhorster School and Maria Montessori School - at both its main and branch sites - took part in the campaign.

Support from Stadtsparkasse Bocholt

Once again, Stadtsparkasse Bocholt supported this year's road safety campaign with a donation. Laura-Sophie Feldberg presented a cheque for 2,500 euros to support educational work on the topic of road safety.
