City of Bocholt takes action against illegal gambling
Joint inspection by the city, criminal investigation department and district government // Seizure of three betting terminals // Examination of consequences under criminal and regulatory law
A joint inspection by the city of Bocholt, the Borken criminal investigation department and the Münster district government in local pubs has confirmed suspicions of illegal gambling. The officers seized three unlicensed betting terminals in a pub. The operators now face both criminal prosecution and regulatory measures.
During the targeted inspection of the catering establishments, the employees of the public order department and the officers of the criminal investigation department came across betting devices from a provider who did not have the required licence. The three terminals found were immediately seized and taken away for technical analysis by the police.
In addition to criminal prosecution by the public prosecutor's office, the administration is considering regulatory action against the pub operators. The authorities involved will continue to co-operate closely in the future in order to consistently prevent illegal gambling structures in the city.
