Extensive sewer works on Ostwall are set to begin on Monday
Six weeks of single-lane traffic and amended traffic arrangements
Next Monday, 29 June 2026, the Bocholt Waste Management and Services Company (ESB) will begin a major sewer construction project in the city centre. Work will start at the busy junction of Ostwall, Weberstraße and "Im Bollwerk", and will subsequently proceed towards "Im Bollwerk%$. Due to the central location of the construction site, road users should expect disruption and changes to traffic routing.
To minimise disruption to residents, the sewer renewal work is being carried out in close coordination with stadtwerker GmbH. In parallel with ESB's civil engineering works, the pipework for a future 110 kV power line is already being laid in the construction zone.
The work at the junction is expected to take approximately six weeks. During this initial construction phase, motor vehicle traffic will be channelled past the worksite in a single lane. Cyclists will also be affected by the restrictions. A diversion will be put in place from Augustastraße, taking traffic round the construction site via Viktoriastraße, Eintrachtstraße, Stenerner Weg and Nordstraße. For pedestrians and cyclists, the closure also means that a direct route from Langenbergpark to Bocholt town centre via this route will not be possible for the time being.
The road "Im Bollwerk" will be designated as a dead end from Stenerner Weg for the duration of the works. However, access for residents to their properties will remain guaranteed throughout the entire construction period.
