30 km/h zones to be extended

Extension of the 30 km/h zones in Hochfeld and Mussum // New regulations in Lönsstraße, Hochfeldstraße, Im Osteresch and Loikumer Weg // Implementation of initial measures underway // Removal of superfluous traffic signs underway

The city of Bocholt has made some adjustments to existing 30 km/h zones. In the Hochfeld and Mussum areas, further roads have been integrated into the zones. At the same time, the dismantling of traffic signs that are no longer required has begun in order to make traffic routing clearer and more transparent.

The city of Bocholt is gradually implementing adjustments to the 30 km/h speed limit regulations as part of the mobility concept. In Hochfeld, Lönsstraße, Hochfeldstraße and Im Osteresch were newly integrated into the existing 30 km/h zone. The zone signage has already been installed on site so that the new regulations are valid. The next step will be to dismantle the previous signage, which has become superfluous due to the zone extension. Around 19 traffic signs can be removed, making the traffic situation clearer and noticeably reducing the forest of signs in the neighbourhood.

There will also be an extension in the Mussum district: Loikumer Weg will become part of the 30 km/h zone there in future. The signage will be adapted as soon as the work in Hochfeld has been completed. A change to the situation at the entrance to the town and the cycle traffic routing on Loikumer Weg are planned for the future, once the new development area at Kreuzkamp, which is currently under development, has been completed.

The adjustments have been coordinated with the police. The aim is to calm traffic in these residential areas and to provide clear, unambiguous signage that is reduced to the essentials in accordance with the basic principle of the Highway Code: as many signs as necessary, as few as possible. The aim is to ease the burden on road users and at the same time improve safety and orientation.
