Bocholt takes part in the first nationwide campaign week for child day care

Action day already on Saturday

From 12 to 18 May 2025, the city of Bocholt will be taking part in the nationwide Child Day Care Action Week for the first time. Under the motto "Gut betreut in Kindertagespflege", childminders will organise two days of action to provide information about their educational services, engage in dialogue with families and strengthen networks.

The aim of the campaign week is to raise public awareness of the important commitment of childminders and to inform people about the benefits of childcare as a form of childcare. Around 87 childminders are currently active in Bocholt, looking after more than 300 children aged between zero and three - in small groups and often with highly individualised support.

Even before the start of the actual campaign week, the city of Bocholt invites all interested families to the campaign day on Saturday, 10 May 2025, from 10:00 to 15:00 on the grounds of Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.

The day offers a varied programme with hands-on activities such as face painting, making flower plugs, fishing for ducks, a treasure hunt in the sandpit and a movement construction site. Visitors can also be inspired by the day carers' home-made play materials.

"By taking part in the campaign week, we not only want to show our appreciation for the work of childminders, but also attract new families to this flexible and family-oriented childcare service", explains Mr Volmering, First City Councillor of the City of Bocholt.

About child day care

Child day care is an equivalent childcare service to a day care centre and offers a very individual and secure environment, especially for children under the age of three. The qualification and regular further training of childminders is ensured by the Youth and Family Department. As a youth welfare service, child day care is no more expensive for parents than a place in a day care centre. The specific costs can be obtained from the Youth Welfare Office.
