Until 29 November: FRIEDEN-VREDE photo competition

Competition for 6- to 18-year-olds // Closing date 29 November // Participation individually or in groups // Exhibition and award ceremony in December

Together with its Dutch partners, the city of Bocholt is once again calling on young people to take part in the German-Dutch photo competition "FRIEDEN - VREDE". Photos can be submitted until 29 November. The competition offers children and young people the opportunity to creatively express their personal perspective on the topic of peace.

The cross-border photo competition "FRIEDEN - VREDE" is aimed at young people between the ages of 6 and 18 from the Bocholt-Aalten region. With this project, the city of Bocholt and its partners want to remind young people how valuable peace and freedom are - not only historically in the context of "80 years of peace and freedom", but also with a view to the present and future. As fewer entries have been received so far than expected, children, young people, school classes and youth groups are once again expressly invited to take part.

Participants can submit up to three photos per person or group. The pictures may be taken with a camera or mobile phone; AI-generated motifs are not permitted. The focus is on a self-chosen motif that visualises the participant's own interpretation of the theme of peace. Both individuals and school classes or youth groups can take part.

An independent jury will judge the submitted works and select the three best entries per age group and category. The twelve best photos will be professionally printed and exhibited in the GrenzBlickAtelier gallery in Bocholt-Suderwick from 21 December. The award ceremony will also take place there on 21 December at 2 pm. A photo workshop with a professional photographer is planned for the winners of each age category.

"Peace cannot be taken for granted - the competition offers young people the opportunity to visualise this in a creative way", explains Petra Taubach, European Affairs Officer for the city of Bocholt. "We look forward to every submission and would like to expressly encourage you to take the opportunity to participate now."

V. together with the sponsors and cooperation partners EUREGIO, Förderkreis Deutsch-Niederländisches Jugendwerk, Stadt Bocholt, Gemeente Aalten, Stadtbibliothek Bocholt, De Bibliotheek Achterhoekse Poort, EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt and the Grenzhoppers.
