Successful "Brit Pic" at the kubaai site
On 21 June 2026, the "Brit Pic" took place for the sixth time on the lawn in front of the LWL Textilwerk Museum in Bocholt as part of the Münsterland Picnic Days. Around 40 people enjoyed an English-style picnic together, with tea, sandwiches and other British delicacies they had brought along. Colourfully decorated hats and British-style clothing were expressly encouraged.
The event was opened by Mayor Christian Mangen and Andreas Becker, Chairman of the German-British Society of Bocholt e.V. In his speech, the mayor emphasised that town twinning schemes thrive on special encounters such as this event. Andreas Becker also made it clear that, given the changed circumstances following Brexit, such face-to-face discussions are more important than ever.
Münsterland Picnic Days
The "Brit Pic" campaign is part of the Münsterland Picnic Days, which take place annually around International Picnic Day. Under the regional motto "Me. You. Us. The Münsterland celebrates picnics!", numerous local authorities in the region are promoting a sense of community and enjoyment in the great outdoors. The Münsterland e.V. is the organiser of these regional event days. The event was hosted by the City of Bocholt, Bocholt Tourist Information, EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt and the German-British Society Bocholt e.V.
Music programme
The picnic was accompanied by music from Bocholt-based musician Ralf Rademacher, who played Irish folk and British folk songs. Until early evening, the picnic guests listened to the music, enjoyed the snacks they had brought with them at festively decorated British-style picnic tables, and engaged in lively conversation.
