Online event: A virtual journey to Ukraine
Event from the "My Europe" series on Wednesday 4 November at 7 pm // Hosted by EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt // Free to attend, registration required
On 4 November, EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt is hosting an online talk on Ukraine. It starts at 7 pm. The event will be held in German and is free of charge. Registration is online.
The speaker, Bohdan Mamchur, is a scientist, archaeologist and activist specialising in archaeogenetics. He studied biology and anthropology in Ukraine, completed an Erasmus Mundus programme in Italy and Spain, and worked as an archaeologist in Germany from 2023 to 2025. In 2022, he co-founded the association "Ukrainer in Aachen e.V.", in which he remains active. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Ostrava on the history of migration in the regions that now make up Ukraine.
As part of the "Ukrainian Left Initiative", he organises events in Germany at which he argues for continued support for Ukraine on democratic and social grounds. In Ostrava, he also advocates for vulnerable groups such as migrants, Roma and the homeless. At the event "My Europe - Ukraine", Bohdan will present his country and provide insights into Ukrainian culture and society, looking beyond Russia's war of aggression.
The evening will be hosted by Felix Schneider, a freelance presenter.
Background to the 'Mein Europa/My Europe' series
"My Europe" is an interactive digital series of events that allows its guests to discover Europe. To this end, young people from different countries are invited to talk about Europe and the issues closest to their hearts. The topics are as diverse as the speakers themselves and can range from current political and social events, through culture and science, to personal commitment to greater tolerance or solidarity.
As well as discussing their personal causes, all participants can test their knowledge of the countries in a short quiz and ask questions live on other topics.
The event partners
The series of events is free of charge and is organised by a large network: the Institut Français Aachen, the Charlemagne Prize Foundation, the Charlemagne Prize Academy and the EUROPE DIRECT centres in Aachen, the district of Gütersloh, Dortmund, Duisburg and Bocholt.

Registrations are being accepted by our partner, EUROPE DIRECT Aachen, atogy.de/Ukraine-2026. Once you have registered, EUROPE DIRECT Aachen will send you a Zoom link which you can use to join the session.
