Many visitors at "Dinxperwick Swings

A colourful programme attracted people to the cross-border celebration on the market square in Dinxperlo and on the village square in Suderwick

On 25 August 2023, the cross-border festival "Dinxperwick Swings" took place for the 4th time.

Verena Winter and Werner Brand as representatives of the organising team opened the event. Ms Kroesen, deputy mayor of the city of Bocholt, praised the work of the organising team and the many volunteers who prepared and carried out the festival again this year. "The European idea is lived here," said Kroesen. Eric Groters, alderman of the municipality of Aalten, echoed the words. This year, the organisers were faced with special challenges due to the unsettled weather, as tents had to be erected at the last minute.

However, the programme of musical and culinary elements went off without a hitch and invited young and old to join in. In the evening, the adult German and Dutch citizens celebrated in the festival tent until late into the night.

The young inhabitants of Dinxperwick were entertained by the dance school INTAKT with their join-in dance workshop on the village square in Dinxperlo. The children were encouraged to sing and dance along by the rhythmic sounds and the skilful instruction. The afternoon ended on the village square with a concert by the Bocholt Shanty Choir.

In the evening, the festivities continued in the marquee in Dinxperlo from 8 pm with the Band & DJ Night. Here, German and Dutch citizens celebrated together into the night.

The cross-border festival, which is co-financed by the EUREGIO as a project within the framework of the Interreg Programme Germany-Netherlands with funds from the European Regional Development Fund, was also supported by sponsors.
