Information stands and participatory action on "Democracy Day

Thursday, 14 September, at Abendmarkt in Bocholt // Graffiti action from 3-6 p.m. for young people aged 15 and over and adults.

The international "Democracy Day" is celebrated every year on 15 September. Already on Thursday, 14 September, citizens in Bocholt can inform themselves at the evening market and participate artistically in a hands-on action. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation offers an activity with graffiti artist Kevin Schott. Everyone can take their work home afterwards. EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt will also be present with an information stand.

Background

In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared 15 September as the international "Day of Democracy". The aim is to promote and defend the principles of democracy.

In order to draw attention to the "Day of Democracy" and to engage in conversation with people of all ages, the Westphalia regional office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation e.V. will be present with an information stand at the evening market at the Markt on Thursday from 3 pm.

Setting an example for democracy, peace and freedom

Graffiti artist Kevin Schott will be there. He will offer visitors the opportunity to engage artistically with the themes of democracy, peace and freedom. Citizens can thus actively set a sign for democracy and a united Europe. Young people from the age of 15 and adults can take part.

"Making everyone aware of the value of democracy is important nowadays, both in Germany and throughout Europe," says Sonja Wießmeier of the EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt. The EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt will also be present with an information stand.
