Belgian-Bocholt guests experience the Bocholt funfair up close

Citizen delegation from Belgian Bocholt visits Bocholt funfair // Reception in the Europa-Haus by the city administration // Entry in the guest book and lunch together

Citizens from the Belgian twin town of Bocholt visited the Bocholt funfair once again. 35 participants travelled especially for the fair and experienced an eventful day full of encounters, music and a good atmosphere.

The guests were welcomed to the Europa-Haus by Jürgen Mecking, Head of the Mayor's Office, and Gerlinde Visser. Mecking conveyed warm greetings from Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff and welcomed the Belgian delegation on behalf of the city of Bocholt. In his greeting, he recalled the long tradition of the fair, which dates back to 1455, and emphasised the special significance of the fair for the people of Bocholt.

After the official reception, the guests signed the city's guest book. They then enjoyed lunch together before taking a stroll around the fair and through the city centre. In the evening, the group travelled back to Belgian Bocholt, around 150 kilometres away - with many impressions and a clear conclusion: "Really gezellig", as one participant enthusiastically stated.
