"Un secret": Film screening in original version with German subtitles
French feature film by Claude Miller // Wednesday, 15 April 2026 // From 7 pm in the Media Centre // Free admission
On 15 April, the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre invites you to a special film screening at the media centre (Futura 1). The French feature film "Un secret" by Claude Miller, based on the autobiographical book of the same name by Philippe Grimbert, will be shown.
In 2004, the book was honoured in France with the Prix Goncourt for students from all secondary schools. The 2007 film adaptation by Claude Miller was nominated for eleven Césars and offers an impressive cinematic realisation of the moving original.
The film "Un secret" (in German: "Ein Geheimnis") tells the touching story of a long-kept family secret. The 15-year-old protagonist François gradually discovers the truth that his parents have kept from him for years. Uncovering this secret enables him to come to terms with personal tragedies and look to the future with a new perspective.
During the event, the film will be shown in French with German subtitles. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the content of the film before, during and after the screening. Participation offers an exciting opportunity to get to know the French language and culture in the context of a touching family drama.
Admission is free, but registration is requested for organisational reasons. Further information is available from the VHS Bocholt office, the Rhede and Isselburg branches or via www.vhs-bocholt.de.
