True Crime Live Podcast at LernWerk

A car, an icy road, a mysterious accident - and many unanswered questions: on Sunday, 28 September 2025, the LernWerk event hall, Industriestrasse 1, will be transformed into a stage for an extraordinary live radio play experience at 11 am. Admission is free, registration is not required.

Under the title "The Encirclement", audio book and television actress Sarah Giese, presenter and author Christoph Tiemann and composer Johannes Kraas bring a fictional true crime podcast to the stage. The starting point is an alleged accident in Münsterland in January 1975: a young woman from Borken dies, but new inconsistencies keep cropping up as the events are reconstructed. What is the story behind the Bocholt licence plate on the car? Was it really an accident - or is there more to it?

The performers interweave local colour, original recordings from interviews with contemporary witnesses and historical background information about the local government reform in 1975 to create an exciting play. This turns a supposedly dry administrative topic into a criminal case that raises questions about identity, power and political organisation right up to the present day.

The project is part of "Schilderwechsel - 50 Jahre Gebietsreform im Münsterland" by Kulturbüro Münsterland beim Münsterland e.V. and was created in co-production with FARB Borken.
