A fable about the life and upbringing of young Juliette in a village in Normandy in the years between the world wars is the subject of the story "The Purple Sails", which the Bocholt cultural administration is inviting audiences to see at the Kinodrom on Tuesday, 12 December. It starts at 8 pm and admission costs 6 euros. "Kulturpass" holders have free admission.
Synopsis
Normandy, 1919: Raphael, a former soldier who survived the First World War, and his young daughter Juliette live in seclusion in a small village in the north of France.
One summer, Juliette meets a boy her own age: Jean is a wealthy heir whose heart and soul are set on conquering the sky. A secret pact is made between these two dreamy children that will stand the test of time and tragedy.
The film promises an emotional and poetic cinematic experience that is a ray of hope in these war-driven times.

About the cultural series "The special film"
The film series "KINO Bocholt - the special film" has been running since 1977 as a cooperation between the Department of Education and Culture and Kinodrom Bocholt. The aim is to present exceptional films - which would otherwise not be shown in Bocholt - to an interested audience of all ages at a favourable price. Selected films are usually shown every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.
