Reading is her favourite hobby: book blogger Carola Quint offers a glimpse into her world

How does a passion for books turn into a hobby with a digital reach? On 5 November, book blogger Carola Quint will be at the City Library to offer insights into her daily life, her work and the art of speed reading.

For many people, reading is far more than just a pastime. It opens up new worlds, sparks the imagination and provides topics for conversation. But what happens when a personal passion for reading turns into a book blog of one's own? What does the job involve, how much technical knowledge is required, and how do you manage to discover and review such a vast amount of literature?

Book blogger Carola Quint from Dingden will be answering these questions on Thursday, 5 November 2026, from 7 pm at Bocholt Municipal Library. In conversation with Regina Remest, she will talk about her passion for books and her day-to-day life as a book blogger. A special accolade also demonstrates the depth of Carola Quint's engagement with literature: in 2025, she wrote a review for the longlist of the German Book Prize.

At the event, visitors will learn what her work involves, the processes behind a book blog and the role digital technology plays in it. Another topic is speed reading. How can you increase your reading speed without losing the joy of reading? As well as offering insights into the varied activities of a book blogger, the evening will provide an opportunity for questions, discussions and a practical session.

The audience is expressly invited to get involved and share their own experiences. The event is aimed at anyone who enjoys reading, discovering new books or is curious about the world of promoting literature online. No prior knowledge is required. Whether you're a passionate reader, a book lover or someone who'd like to rediscover the joy of reading: the evening promises new perspectives on a hobby that brings people together. The event is organised by the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre in cooperation with the Municipal Library.

Further information, including details on how to register, is available from the VHS office in Bocholt, Industriestr. 1, the Rhede and Isselburg branches, or via www.vhs-bocholt.de.
