"Fixing the Boat": Mobile Escape Room comes to Bocholter LernWerk

Who am I and what defines me? The mobile escape room "Fixing The Boat - Finding Identity" deals with these questions and is the first escape room in Europe to teach about Jewish life. The aim is to create a positive approach to the diversity of Jewish identities and to prevent clichés, resentment and prejudice.

From 27 October 2025, all interested parties are cordially invited to embark on a unique adventure! In the recreated cabin at LernWerk, Industriestr. 1 in Bocholt, participants must save the boat from shipwreck within an hour. Through tricky puzzles and an exciting story, the players not only learn about cultural backgrounds and the diversity of Jewish life, but also get to know themselves better.

Teamwork is a central aspect of the game: Only together can the challenge be mastered and the ship saved from sinking. The game is suitable for beginners and opens the door to serious topics in a creative and playful way.

The Escape Room offers space for four to six people per session and is aimed at participants aged 16 and over. Prior registration is required to get on board and participation is free of charge. Anyone interested can register now at vhs-bocholt.de.

Fixing the Boat - Finding Identity is not just an escape room, but also a platform for experiencing identification and communication. "Fixing the Boat - Finding Identity" is organised by SABRA, the service centre for anti-discrimination work and advice on racism and anti-Semitism, sponsored by the Jewish Community of Düsseldorf. This series of events takes place in cooperation with the municipal integration centre, the regional school counselling centre of the Borken district, the AWO youth migration service sub-district Münsterland-Recklinghausen, the integration agency Caritas Borken, the DRK integration agency Borken and the JUNGE UNI in Bocholt.
