Discover Japan from a personal perspective

VHS talk on 1 October // Regina Remest talks about her trip to Japan, which lasted several weeks // Photographs and personal impressions

Japan captivates visitors with its unique blend of centuries-old tradition, stunning scenery and modern city life. Regina Remest from Bocholt will offer a personal insight into this diverse country during a talk organised by the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre on Thursday 1 October at 7.30 pm at the Media Centre, 5 Hindenburgstraße.

Under the title "Japan - Unknown Beauty", the speaker takes visitors on a photographic journey based on a stay of several weeks in Japan in 2024. Through her personal photographs, she recounts her experiences and encounters, showcasing not only well-known sights but also numerous curiosities and unique glimpses of everyday life.

The journey takes in Tokyo, Nagano, Takayama, Himeji, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Osaka, amongst other places. The famous Mount Fuji is also featured - though it appears shrouded in the photographs. It is precisely these special moments that give the talk its personal character.

The evening is explicitly intended as an introduction to a country about which there is far more to tell than can be covered in a single talk. Japan is presented from various perspectives: as a country of impressive cities and landscapes, as a cultural region with a long history, and at the same time as a fascinating travel destination on the other side of the world.

Anyone curious about Japan can gather numerous impressions and ideas during the evening - perhaps even finding inspiration for a trip of their own.

The fee is eight euros if booked in advance and ten euros at the door, with concessions available. Further information and registration are available at the VHS Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg, Industriestraße 1 in Bocholt, at the Rhede and Isselburg branches, and at www.vhs.bocholt.de.
