Theory and practice of first aid for dogs // Seminar on 21 March at LernWerk // Recognised training for breeding and boarding kennels
The Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre is offering a compact seminar on first aid for dogs on Saturday, 21 March. During the three-hour event at the LernWerk, dog owners will learn how to react calmly and correctly in emergency situations. In addition to theoretical basics, the course will focus on practical exercises.
The Bocholt Adult Education Centre (VHS) invites all interested dog owners to a practical seminar that focuses on first aid for four-legged friends in emergency situations. The course will take place on Saturday, 21 March 2026, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at LernWerk on Industriestrasse 1. Under the guidance of instructor Britta Günther, participants will receive a comprehensive package of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to keep calm in an emergency and be able to take life-saving measures.
In the theoretical part of the course, participants learn how to correctly recognise and classify various emergencies. Everyday dangerous situations such as poisoning, swallowing foreign objects, heatstroke, insect bites or accidental shock are discussed in detail. The instructor also teaches the correct procedure for severe bleeding or eye injuries as well as the correct positioning and safe transport of the injured animal to the veterinary practice.
These theoretical principles are deepened through extensive practical exercises in order to create confidence in their application. For example, cardiopulmonary resuscitation is clearly explained and then practised by the participants on a special dog dummy. The seminar is aimed at both private dog owners and professional carers. For breeders and boarding kennel operators, participation can be certified as recognised training to fulfil the general training requirement.
The participation fee for the seminar is 44 euros and already includes the material costs incurred. Interested parties can register via the website vhs.bocholt.de or register in person at the VHS office in the LernWerk.
