City opens newly designed Sandbachpark
Bocholt celebrates the completion of the "Ententeich" // State Secretary Sören Bartol attends the park opening ceremony
The city of Bocholt invites you to the grand opening of the newly designed Sandbachpark on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. Together with Parliamentary State Secretary Sören Bartol, Mayor Christian Mangen will officially open the park.
Sandbachpark, also known as "Ententeich", has undergone extensive ecological and functional upgrading in recent months. The project was developed as part of the INTERREG Germany-Nederland programme under the title "Water-resilient cities". The implementation of the measures to adapt to climate change was largely made possible by corresponding federal funding.
The celebrations will begin at 4 p.m. with musical performances by the Bocholt-Isselburg music school. Various games and activities will be offered for the children of the nearby St. Paul daycare centre, the Clemens-August primary school and all young guests from the neighbourhood.
Entsorgungs- und Servicebetrieb Bocholt (ESB) will also be providing food and drink throughout the event, with the proceeds from sales going to the music school's parents' and sponsors' association.
Following the official words, there will be a joint tour of the park, during which those responsible from the city administration will explain details of the remodelling and the new design.
All neighbours and interested citizens will have the opportunity to talk to the political representatives of the council and the administrative board later in the afternoon.
The city of Bocholt would like to point out that the event is planned as an open-air event. If the weather does not allow the event to be held outdoors, the official opening will be moved to the neighbouring St. Paul's parish hall on Breslauer Straße at short notice.
