Event to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the war // Discussion evening at LernWerk
On Wednesday, 7 May 2025 at 6.30 pm, the city of Bocholt invites you to the Bocholt City History Discussion Group in the Lernwerk at Industriestraße 1 in Bocholt. On this evening, the exhibition "80 years end of war and new beginning in Bocholt" will be opened and the project "Bocholter Zeitzeugen 2.0" will be presented.
With the exhibition "80 Years of the End of the War and a New Beginning in Bocholt", the city archives and the Bocholt City Museum would like to provide an insight into the year 1945 based on four thematic areas. In addition to depicting the war and the end of the war with the associated hardship and the daily challenges for the people, the exhibition also focuses on the new beginning of social and democratic life and the border relations with the Netherlands.
The exhibition not only shows documents and objects, but also takes a multimedia look at the year 1945 using interviews with contemporary witnesses and historical film footage. The project "Bocholter Zeitzeugen 2.0" provides an insight into life and the challenges of 80 years ago in Bocholt based on personal accounts.
The city history discussion group is a co-operation between the adult education centre and the Bocholt City Museum and Archive. Lisa Resing from the Bocholt City Museum and Renate Volks-Kuhlmann from the Bocholt City Archive will moderate the evening. The exhibition can be seen until the end of May in the LernWerk on Industriestraße.
Admission is free. Registration is requested at www.vhs-bocholt.de or stadtarchiv(at)bocholt(dot)de
