Living and learning in Europe
"EUpdate - Living and Learning in Europe" is the motto of the European Union's Europe Weeks 2023. And the LWL's big children's and family festival will also be involved.
"After we didn't know for a long time last year whether and in what form we would be able and allowed to hold the LWL Children's and Family Festival, we are glad this year that we have a little "more breathing space" in the planning together with the associations and organisations," said Museum Director Hermann-Josef Stenkamp.
"The participation is super, so that we can show how colourful Bocholt really is also at the ninth edition," added Bruno Wansing, Integration Officer of the City of Bocholt.
Sustainable family festival
In addition to the clubs and organisations, the municipality as a trainer and employer and the fire brigade will also present themselves on site. The district of Borken is also expected to present its Smart Region concept.
There will also be innovations in the area of "sustainability". "In order to completely avoid waste caused by disposable packaging, we are planning that all culinary offerings provided by the associations will be handed out in sustainable small bowls created by a bakery in Bocholt," announces Irina Fernandes-Krühler from the LWL. Visitors can dispose of these bowls in the organic waste.
Susan Albers live!
The main act of the stage programme for the family festival on 1 May will be the well-known singer Susan Albers. She will perform at the end of the colourful programme at 4 p.m. at the LWL Museum Textilwerk on the Platz der Weberei and accompany a varied mix of songs by well-known artists on the piano.
With her titles from the areas of film music, rock and pop, she will thus ensure an atmospheric end to the festival at the Textilwerk, where people like to meet up with friends and family after an excursion by bike.
As a pianist and singer, the artist Susan Albers stands for charisma, passion and authenticity with heart and soul. She loves and lives emotionally charged music, convinces with her dynamically powerful but also crystal-clear voice.
