Ecologically valuable trees

A contribution to the climate

Ecologically valuable trees improve the local climate. Due to climate change with increasing summer heat days and more storms, the balancing effect of trees is becoming even more important. With this support programme, the city supports the preservation and professional care of ecologically valuable trees in private ownership and at the same time the new planting of native deciduous trees as an important component for improving the inner-city climate.

The city advises the citizens of Bocholt on questions regarding the protection and professional care of climate-ecologically valuable trees and the replanting of site-appropriate deciduous trees.

What is promoted?

Funding is provided for maintenance measures and the replanting of large-crowned trees. The subsidy amounts to 50 percent of the maintenance costs up to a maximum of 1,000 euros per tree.

Under what conditions is funding available?

To qualify for funding for maintenance measures, the trunk circumference of the tree must be at least 1.50 metres. The tree must be located on private or company property.

The city supports the planting of new trees on private or company property by providing deciduous trees for planting in spring after prior application.
