Deregistration of a dog
If you no longer keep your dog, you must deregister it from the dog tax.
How can I deregister my dog?
You can deregister your dog either in writing, in person at the Citizens' Office or using the online form.
To deregister, the Department of Finance and Compliance, Central Financial Management and Compliance Division requires the following information:
- Reason for deregistration
- Date of death or date of surrender
- Name and address of the new owner if the dog has been relinquished
- Your new address if you have moved to another municipality
- Copy of the invoice or the vet's euthanasia certificate, receipt from the animal shelter or certificate of sale
The digital dog tax stamp loses its validity when you deregister.
