Extreme weather events are also making climate change increasingly noticeable locally. The exhibition "Climate in Transition" shows how local authorities and each individual can adapt to these changes. The city invites all citizens to find out about future-oriented strategies free of charge.

Climate change is no longer an abstract vision of the future, but is changing everyday life on the ground. In order to give this highly topical subject the necessary space, the city of Bocholt is bringing the travelling exhibition "Climate in Transition - How can we adapt to it?" by the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation for Environment and Development into the foyer of the Lernwerk.

The exhibition provides comprehensive information on how climate change is already changing our lives today and what measures can be taken to adapt to its consequences. It examines the topic from four perspectives:

  • Individual - How can each person act in their own everyday life to adapt to climatic changes?
  • Municipal - What projects and strategies are cities and municipalities already implementing, for example in the greening of areas or in rainwater management?
  • Political - How do authorities and politicians inform and support the state and local authorities in adapting?
  • Socially - What role does the community play and what can we learn from each other and from other regions?

The exhibition is intended to encourage people to think about climate change and to familiarise themselves with concrete, future-oriented adaptation strategies.

The exhibits are freely accessible in the foyer of the Lernwerk from Monday to Thursday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and on Fridays from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm.

Special attention is paid to imparting knowledge to the younger generation. Teachers are cordially invited to plan a visit with their classes - the exhibition can be a valuable addition to lessons on climate change, its consequences and possible courses of action. Specific dates can be arranged with the staff unit on 02871 953-3002 or by e-mail to klimaschutz(at)bocholt(dot)de.
