The special film "No country for nobody - Sealing off an immigration country"

As part of the series "KINO Bocholt - der besondere Film", the documentary "Kein Land für Niemand - Abschottung eines Einwanderungslandes" will be shown on Tuesday, 8 September 2026. The film complements the municipal exhibition "Schwere Schritte - Fluchtgeschichten", which can be seen in the annex (appendix) of the LernWerk at Industriestrasse 1.

The documentation shows the cruel realities of flight and gives those affected a voice and a face. Exclusive interviews with activists, scientists and decision-makers clarify the social and political background. The rise of right-wing populism and its mechanisms of fear are made tangible.

In 2025, Germany is facing a historic turning point: for the first time since 1945, a migration policy resolution is passed in the Bundestag - with the support of the AfD, which is being monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution due to its far-right tendencies. The adopted declaration on limiting immigration calls, among other things, for the complete closure of Germany's borders. A political change of course is recognisable: away from the protection of refugees and towards isolation and deterrence. The directors analyse and clarify the causes of this development. Polarisation - populism - bureaucracy. The documentary argues both ethically and morally as well as in terms of economic policy in an extremely clear and logical manner.

The film series "KINO Bocholt - the special film" has existed since 1977 as a cooperation between the Department of Education and Culture of the City of Bocholt and Kinodrom Bocholt. The aim is to make unusual films that are not otherwise shown in the regular programme accessible to a wide audience. As a rule, selected productions are shown every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Admission is €7.
