Tuesday, 6 October, at 5 pm in the Hemdener Saal // New carriageway, footpath and cycle path, as well as utility lines // Construction to take place in several phases
From October, Hamalandstraße (L602) will undergo extensive resurfacing works over a stretch of around four kilometres. The North Rhine-Westphalia State Road Construction Authority (Straßen.NRW) and the City of Bocholt will provide information about the project on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, at 5 pm in the Hemdener Saal. Interested members of the public, particularly local residents, can find out about the planned works and the construction schedule, and ask questions.
Hamalandstraße is to be given a new carriageway and a revised layout of the road space. The existing wide carriageway with a multi-purpose lane is to be redesigned. In future, a 2.5-metre-wide shared footpath and cycle path, separated from the road, will run alongside the carriageway. Work is also taking place beneath the road: amongst other things, the City of Bocholt's Waste Management and Services Department (ESB) is replacing and relocating the supply and waste disposal pipes along this stretch.
The redevelopment will take place in several construction phases. In principle, the properties and neighbouring businesses are to remain accessible to residents, visitors, suppliers and utility and waste collection vehicles. Unimpeded access for ambulances and fire engines will also be ensured.
At the information evening, project managers from Straßen.NRW and the City of Bocholt will present the project and the planned construction schedule. They will then answer questions. The event will take place in the hall of the St. Helena Hemden Shooting Club (Hemdener Saal), Hemdener Ringstraße 5, 46399 Bocholt.
