Access to Berliner Platz temporarily only possible via the entrance at the arcades // Interruption of measures for the Rose Monday parade
The progress of the geothermal drilling work for the town hall refurbishment requires the closure of further car parks on Berliner Platz. Access to the square is also only possible via the entrance at the shopping arcades from probably Friday 6 February, but from Monday 9 February at the latest. The closure will be temporarily lifted for the line-up of the Rose Monday parade.
In the course of the town hall refurbishment and the associated development of geothermal energy, it has become necessary to extend the working area on Berliner Platz. This particularly affects the car parks to the right of the entrance at the traffic lights coming from the inner ring road. This makes it necessary to adjust the traffic routing at short notice. During the construction phase, drivers will no longer be able to access Berliner Platz via the entrance to the traffic lights. During this period, access will only be possible via the access road at the shopping arcades. Access to the car park at Mariengymnasium remains unaffected by these changes and is still guaranteed.
To ensure that there is sufficient space for the Rose Monday parade, the roadworks barrier will be temporarily dismantled especially for the parade. Once the parade is over, the closure will be reinstated so that work can continue as planned on Tuesday.
The expansion of the construction site will also have an impact on the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung (BEW) charging points located there will be unavailable or only available to a very limited extent during the construction period.
