Half Marathon Bocholt: Use early booking now

Organizer needs planning security: If there are too few registrations, the event planned for September could be cancelled.

The starting signal for the third Bocholt Half Marathon will be given on September 3, 2023. Since mid-December 2022, interested athletes have been able to register for the event online at www.bocholter-halbmarathon.de. "We need significantly more registrations," says now current Ullrich Kuhlmann from the organization team of the Stadt-Sport-Verband Bocholt (SSV). The SSV needs planning security.

So far, 385 runners have registered for the half-marathon course. "To be able to run the event safely, we need at least 700 by March 5," Kuhlmann emphasizes. Currently, the registration fee is still 27 euros, but from March 6 it will rise to 32 euros. "The kick-off in 2019 was great, we had a huge turnout. After two years of Corona, we were able to tackle the second edition last year, had a little over 1,000 registrations and participants on the day of the run for all three runs," reported Markus Schürbüscher from the organizing team. In order to get everything over the stage in an orderly manner, both financially and organizationally, it was necessary to reach a number of 700 starters early on.

"If we don't manage that, we'll have to cancel the third edition of the Bocholt Half Marathon," Kuhlmann announces, but is counting on the help of runners who have already secured a starting place. "Advertise among yourselves and help us get the start list full, so that we can again present a great event together here in sports-crazy Bocholt in September!"

For the 7.5 km distance, 32 runners have registered so far. Here, the "Early Bird" rate of 8 euros is currently still valid. Also for the 1.25 km children's run, further registrations are gladly accepted now at the price of 5 euros.

Organizers and supporters

Organizer of the Bocholter half marathon is the organizer community from city sport federation, city Bocholt and city marketing Bocholt in co-operation with the TSV Bocholt, Hemdener SV and DJK Barlo. The event is supported by the main sponsors Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung (BEW) and Volksbank Bocholt.
