City of Bocholt and One World Shop sponsor children's tournament with prizes
FC Olympia Bocholt's primary school tournament is taking place for the 21st time this weekend. The city of Bocholt is supporting the traditional event together with the One World Shop and has now officially handed over 25 fair trade footballs, which will be used as prizes for the winning teams.
The primary school tournament at FC Olympia Bocholt has been a firm fixture in the city's calendar of events for many years and is an example of community life, voluntary work and the promotion of sport among young people. In order to support the event in a targeted manner, the city of Bocholt, together with the One World Shop, provides prizes for the first, second and third place winners in the form of fair trade footballs.
"We would especially like to thank the organisers, FC Olympia Bocholt", says Bocholt's First City Councillor Björn Volmering. "The tournament is only possible thanks to the commitment of many volunteers. It is an important contribution to the promotion of children and young people and deserves special recognition."
The ball was handed over in the run-up to the tournament. Those involved emphasised the dual significance of this gesture: on the one hand, the prizes honour the sporting achievements of the participating children, and on the other hand, they send out a conscious signal of global responsibility and fair cooperation. Fair trade and sporting ambition are thus combined in a playful way.
