Bike park: work on the tarmac bypass has begun

After awarding the construction contracts, the city of Bocholt has given the go-ahead for the realisation of the bike park at Hünting. Initially, an asphalt bypass will be built, which will later be used in particular by road cyclists from RC 77 Bocholt. This construction phase should be completed by the end of 2025.

The bike park elements made of compacted soil inside the bypass will follow in spring 2026, probably from March. Thanks to the section-by-section realisation, RC 77 will be able to hold its traditional MTB race series at Hünting as usual in January. A further extension of the implementation period until the end of 2026 was obtained from the funding body to ensure that the project is realised on schedule.

The project is being funded by the federal government from the "Sanierung kommunaler Einrichtungen in den Bereichen Sport, Jugend und Kultur" programme. The total costs amount to around 470,000 euros, of which around 138,000 euros are available from federal funds. With the expansion of the facility, the city of Bocholt is strengthening its sporting programme and improving the training and competition conditions for numerous cycling enthusiasts.
