13 new everyday carers will be supporting people with dementia in Bocholt in future. Over the past eight weeks, they have successfully completed a basic qualification as part of the twelfth series of training courses organised by the Bocholt Dementia Network
The course, which was sponsored by AOK NordWest, was aimed at both family carers and people who would like to become dementia carers in the future.
During the 40-hour course, participants acquired comprehensive knowledge about how to deal with people with dementia. They learnt how to better understand their needs, react appropriately to different situations and create meaningful activities. The aim of the training was to prepare the participants for their new role and to give them confidence in their day-to-day work with people with dementia.
At the end of the course, all participants received a certificate in accordance with Section 45 SGB XI, which authorises them to provide additional care and respite services. The training series is offered twice a year. Interested citizens can contact Marie-Therese Brand at the City of Bocholt's senior citizens' office on 953-2234 or by email at seniorenbuero(at)bocholt(dot)de.
