The team of the senior citizens' office (from right): Division manager Christian Tewiele with Marie-Therese Brand and Sarah BußmannBocholt strengthens counselling and support for senior citizens
Open consultation hours and newsletter successfully launched in May
The Bocholt Senior Citizens' Office offers older people and their relatives support in various areas of life. The aim is to offer older people the opportunity to remain in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible.
The services provided by the Bocholt senior citizens' office include help in finding suitable outpatient or inpatient services, advice on care insurance and social benefits as well as practical support with personal problems in everyday life.
Counselling is provided free of charge by the experienced team of Marie-Therese Brand and Sarah Bußmann. Christian Tewiele is responsible for the senior citizens, care, volunteering and pensions division.
Regular events such as the senior citizens' fair, action weeks "Living in old age" and the skills day for family carers provide extensive information on senior citizens-specific topics. In addition, the volunteer group "Mouse-Mobile" supports senior citizens with questions relating to digital devices such as smartphones and tablets.
New this year is the "Marketplace Neighbourhood Help", an initiative that brings together people in need of care and dedicated neighbourhood helpers to organise support in everyday life. The costs can be financed via the monthly relief amount from care insurance. The response to the first events has been very positive, reports Christian Tewiele.
A newsletter will also be introduced from May 2025, providing information about current events and offers from the senior citizens' office. Interested citizens can register for this directly by email(seniorenbuero(at)bocholt(dot)de). In addition, the senior citizens' office has recently started offering weekly open consultation hours on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in the volunteer agency at Langenbergstraße 18 in Bocholt, on a trial basis until the start of the summer holidays, for which no registration is required.
The Senior Citizens' Office also acts as the office of the Bocholt Senior Citizens' Advisory Council, which will be newly elected in October. People who would like to stand up for the interests of senior citizens can obtain information and register via the senior citizens' office. An information event will take place on 11 June at 5 pm in the Lernwerk.
